Reducing the Fringe Footprint

We want to to reduce the environmental impact that the festival has on the planet.

We’re undertaking an ecological audit to calculate the carbon footprint of the Fringe, including flights and travel made by artists, international staff and audience members, printing of paper programmes and promotional materials, production of merchandise, single use plastics in Fringe venues/bars etc.

We’ll be working with local organisations and initiatives which provide greener solutions for companies and will be offering audience members and supporters options to offset carbon with their purchase or donation.

Throughout the year we’ll be providing updates on our findings, and the policies we put in place as a result. We will let you know ways in which you can assist us in making the Fringe a more eco-friendly event.

If you have suggestions on ways in which we can improve our carbon footprint, or would like to get involved, please get in touch
